Parting Words: Gratitude & Reminders

Dear patients and friends,

It’s been over two decades since I began working as an acupuncturist here in Massachusetts. These years have taught me so much about life, healing, and what it means to be human. I am deeply grateful to each of you for trusting me with your care.

Now, the time has come for me and my family to begin a new chapter. June 24th, 2026 will be my last day in Cambridge, and we will be moving out of the state shortly afterward. Before I go, I’d like to share a few reminders with you — things we often discussed during our treatments:

First, learn Tai Chi. Its benefits for both body and mind are very well documented. I strongly recommend finding in-person classes whenever possible, as the guidance and group energy make a big difference. If Tai Chi isn’t possible right now, try to spend time in nature at least for an hour or two a week. In Massachusetts, you’re blessed with wonderful places — the Blue Hills, Walden Pond, beautiful beaches, rolling hills, and nearby mountains. Please make use of them.

Second, focus on eating nourishing, wholesome foods and rely less on supplements. Choose natural and organic sources whenever possible — especially grass-fed meats, pasture-raised slow-grown chickens, and fresh local produce. Support local CSAs for fresh vegetables and meats when you can.

To my vegan and vegetarian patients: if you follow your diet 95% of the time instead of striving for 100%, you’ll likely inspire far more people to join you. And remember, it’s okay to cheat sensibly now and then.

Third, prioritize good sleep. For many, a troubled mind or heavy heart is what keeps them from peaceful rest. If that’s you, may I suggest asking yourself: Who am I? You may never fully arrive at the answer, but the search itself is important. At the very least, you will discover who you are not — and that discovery can provide immense practical help. If you would like, look into religious or spiritual communities. If you do, just remember that their leaders are human too, with their own strengths and imperfections.

No medicine or treatments can or should replace these foundations.

I will keep my existing cell number and email address active for one year after my last day, so feel free to reach out if you need anything.

If you happen to know anyone in the Dallas area who might be looking for an acupuncturist, I would greatly appreciate it if you’d let them know that I will be setting up my practice there shortly.

Thank you again for allowing me to be part of your healing journey. I will carry the memories of our time together with great fondness.

Wishing you all health, peace, and joy in the years ahead.

Warmly,

John Choi
